    • Anil Kapoor gears up for Season 2 of 24

      Subhash K. Jha

      Sat, 15 Mar 2014 10:39:58

The game-changing serial '24' is all set to go into Season 2. Yup, it's time for Anil Kapoor to don the producer's hat once again, even if it is to be done at the cost of his film offers.

Apparently, Anil has 6 major film offers this year. But he is tempted to again give priority to '24'. Confirming his full-throttle plans for Season 2 Anil says, "My entire team is into pre-production. Only my own dates need to be worked out. I am in a bit of a fix."

Last year, Anil said no to all movie offers in order to focus on '24'. This year, the movie offers have piled up but Anil is in the mood for Season 2 of the series. Confesses the director, "There are quite a number of tempting film offers. But I haven't said yes to them as yet. I need to work out my dates for Season 2 of '24'. That's a commitment I've made to myself. As a movie actor I've seen and done it all. Television is a new medium for me. And it's very exciting."

So would Anil end up doing no films in 2014? "I am already doing Anees Bazmee's Welcome Back. So I've a major film coming up this year. As for more movies, they would depend on how much time Season 2 of '24' would need. You see, the first season was tougher with the entire machinery and logistics of television being new to me. A lot of the production hassles would be automatically lessened this time," reveals Anil excitedly.

The one thing that is most certainly going to be seen in Season 2 of '24' is the core cast of Anil Kapoor, Tisca Chopra and Mandira Bedi. Rishi Kapoor and Jeetendra are likely to join the cast. "Let's see how it goes. I am even more excited about Season 2," reveals Anil who took a few days off this week to attend his brother Sanjay Kapoor's brother-in-law's wedding.

    • Mary Kom shoots her life story in 3 minutes

      Subhash K. Jha

      Fri, 14 Mar 2014 10:29:40

Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar has done in 3 minutes what Priyanka Chopra would take 3 hours to say.

In an ad that he shot over three days last week, Shoojit got boxing champion Mary Kom to enact her own life on camera.

Says Shoojit, "It was a remarkably inspiring three-day shoot. Though it's an ad we got Mary Kom to feature in it. And we encapsulated every phase of her life from her childhood struggle for a decent life to her hard-working teens to her current status as boxing champ and a home-maker, we got all of this into the script in just a three-minute film."

The director says it was a huge challenge to get Mary Kom's life on to the film in such meager footage. "I wanted it to be an inspirational saga told in just a few minutes. I didn't want her to come across as a model selling a product but a responsible citizen selling an idea to the millions who look up to her. I had never expected her to be so camera-friendly."

The boxer, whose rise from poverty to being a global sports icon is now being made into a film starring Priyanka Chopra, was a "natural" before the camera.

"It was such a pleasure shooting with Mary Kom. She came to the sets with no attitude or fixed notions. She surrendered to whatever the script demanded. She was fully there with me, collaborating and participating like a true member of the crew," says Shoojit.

    • I am going to be out of circulation for 3 weeks - Amit Sadh

      Subhash K. Jha

      Fri, 14 Mar 2014 10:22:19

There seems to be no end to filmmaker Subhash Kapoor's woes. Just when he had bounced back after murky charges of sexual misconduct he now has to face a shooting cancellation because of a locational accident.

Amit Sadh who fell and fractured his right leg while shooting on location in Shimla for Subhash Kapoor's Guddu Rangeela says he would have to remain bed-ridden for three weeks.

Speaking to this writer from the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital Amit said, "It is a routine fracture. I don't know how exactly it happened. I was shooting when I stumbled and slipped. Before I knew it I felt an acute pain in my right leg."

Amit was flown back to Mumbai from Simla and has been advised complete bed rest.

Wincing with pain the actor says, "It's no big deal. I am used to pain of all kinds. In order to walk one first needs to crawl and then stumble and fall. I am right now in that stage of my life where I am learning to walk. I don't mind the fall."

Amit says recent times have been extremely eventful for him. "The past year has been like a hurricane for me. Suddenly after years of struggle I finally stumbled upon some success. And now just when I was enjoying that success I fractured my leg. This is God's way of reminding me to keep my feet planted firmly on to earth."

Amit is expected to be discharged from hospital on Thursday.

"But I have to remain bed-ridden for three weeks. Until then the shooting remains cancelled. This is my chance to catch up on my sleep and reading," says Amit.
