CAPE TOWN American civil rights campaigner Coretta Scott King met yesterday with Allan Boesak, one of the major anti-apartheid leaders who pressured her into snubbing South Africa President Pieter W. Botha on Tuesday.
After the meeting, Boesak, co-founder of the United Democratic Front anti-apartheid movement, congratulated King on her "very wise and very courageous decision."
King told him during the meeting that although their methods differed, their aims were the same.
The UDF leadership, Boesak and black nationalist Winnie Mandela had threatened to avoid meeting King if she went ahead with planned meetings with Botha and moderate black leader Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi. …
