Max Verstappen will become the youngest F1 driver in history when he drives for Toro Rosso in 2015, an announcement that was made in August 2014. The highly-rated Verstappen has enjoyed a meteoric rise which saw him sought after by Mercedes and Red Bull in 2014, before he opted to join the latter's Young Driver Programme.
The son of former F1 driver Jos, Verstappen won the World Karting Championship in 2013 aged 15, an achievement which preceded a move to European Formula 3. He proved he was no flash in the pan, winning eight races in his first season (which is ongoing as of August 2014), enough to earn him his seat in F1.
Verstappen will partner Daniil Kvyat at Toro Rosso.
