The Schools of the FHNW are located on four campuses in Basel, Brugg/Windisch, Muttenz and Olten.

Olten Campus

The Olten Campus of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland hosts the FHNW School of Applied Psychology, the FHNW School of Social Work, the FHNW School of Business and the Institute of Optometry (part of the FHNW School of Engineering). The campus is housed in a new building immediately adjacent to Olten railway station. It boasts a state-of-the-art infrastructure and, with its public library and attractive forecourt, acts as the focal point for student life at the FHNW in Olten.

Basel Campus

The FHNW's Basel Campus is distributed across three sites:

  • Basel Dreispitz site: Situated in Basel's Dreispitz district, this site hosts the FHNW Academy of Art and Design. A new building is scheduled to open in 2014, as is the refurbished Zollfreilager, the city's repurposed former bonded warehouse. At that point, the School's other sites in Basel and Aarau will relocate here.
  • Musik-Akademie site: The Musik-Akademie site hosts the FHNW Academy of Music. As a lively site with an international flair, this site plays host to the Schools of Music, the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, the Musikschule Basel and the Musikalische Grundkurse Basel (the latter two are not part of the FHNW).
  • Peter-Merian-Haus site: The Peter-Merian-Haus is immediately adjacent to Basel's main railway station and is one of the sites of the FHNW School of Business. The building also hosts the SwissPost and other high-calibre businesses.

Muttenz is scheduled to receive a new campus building in 2018, to which the other parts of the FHNW Schools of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geomatics, of Life Sciences, of Social Work and of Education currently occupying sites in Basel, Liestal and Muttenz will relocate.
