What is the unit called a sabin?
In acoustics, a unit used to measure the ability of a surface to absorb sound, equivalent to the absorption by 1 square foot of a perfect absorber. Occasionally called the open window unit. A metric sabin is absorption by a square meter of a perfect absorber.
It is named for the American physicist Wallace Clement Sabine (1868 – 1919).
