This was Sir Charles Mackerras's third G&S recording on Telarc,following Mikado (1992) and Pirates (1993). Unlike his two earlier outings, this recording truly is musically-complete, including the overture. Like all the Mackerras recordings, the opera is gorgeously sung. Fitting on a single CD, it is kind to the pocket book too. I do not know if there is a cassette version.
