The Blacktalon (also spelled Black Talon)^[1] are Wrathion's agents.^[2] Though they may seem small in numbers, they are well trained, and prepared to die for him if necessary.^[3]

History[]

Mists of Pandaria[]

In Pandaria, Wrathion made his base in the Tavern in the Mists, from where he directed his operations across the continent. Therefore, he sent Blacktalon Agents and Blacktalon Watchers on secret missions at several locations, notably the Jade Forest, the Valley of the Four Winds, and Kun-Lai Summit. Among the agents, some of them were bringing messages to others, some were excavating at various locations (often proceeding to speak rather cryptically to one another), while the others were moving around stealthed throughout the continent.

Warlords of Draenor[]

During the trial of Garrosh Hellscream, Right and Left aided their master and his ally Kairozdormu when they arranged for Hellscream's liberation.^[4] However events spiraled out of their control, as Garrosh refused to be anything but his own master, murdered Kairoz, rallied the orcs of alternate Draenor into the Iron Horde, and then invaded Azeroth. During the subsequent war in Draenor that followed, it was revealed that the Blacktalon had left the Veiled Stair.^[5]

Exactly where the Blacktalon had moved to and their movements during the war are unknown, though Wrathion himself had appeared on Draenor, where he had become a "guest" of Admiral Taylor's Garrison in the Spires of Arak. Wrathion would ultimately leave the garrison and take several of Taylor's best followers with him, where they presumably joined the Blacktalon.

Battle for Azeroth[]

At the time of the Fourth War, after finding an Unscarred Black Scale from a young black dragon while on an island expedition, the adventurer knew that Wrathion would want to hear about it and sought him out at Blackrock Mountain. Though Wrathion was not there himself, one of his Blacktalon Agents was. She revealed to the adventurer that Wrathion was searching for the Dragon Isles and that other dragons had not been forthcoming in information.^[6] One of them was also the former lair of Deathwing, observing as another uncorrupted black dragon, Ebyssian, took an essence of the black dragonflight's magic to help heal the world.^[7] More Blacktalon Watchers could be found in Nazjatar.

After the end of the war, Wrathion sent them after N'Zoth but to no avail.^[8]

Dragonflight[]

This section concerns content related to Dragonflight.

A few years later, the Blacktalon loyally followed their master to the Dragon Isles and set up their own encampment, the Obsidian Bulwark, within the Waking Shores.

Following the awakening of the Djaradin and their destruction of Dragonheart Outpost,^[9] Wrathion sent them to infiltrate Scalecracker Keep and discover what the djaradin were up too. They subsequently discovered that the djaradin intended to claim the Obsidian Citadel, the black dragonflight's seat of power, and shared with their intel with adventurers, who delivered the news to Wrathion.^[10][11] After discovering that the djaradin intended to claim the Obsidian Citadel, the black dragonflight's seat of power, Wrathion and his agents headed off to stop them.

Regrouping at their encampment, the Blacktalon were joined by adventurers, sent on Alexstrasza's behalf to aid them. Wrathion warmly welcomed their aid, believing that with their presence his plans could succeed.^[12] After having the Blacktalon tested and going over their intel, Wrathion was prepared to move forward, waiving away any concerns about their low numbers and arrogantly declaring himself an "incalculable advantage" and that he would not be denied his legacy.^[13] He then gave the order to begin the assault, where the Blacktalon took control of the Burning Ascent in the process, and as the proper assault on the citadel itself began they were surprised to received unexpected back up by the arrival Sabellian and his brood. Working together, the united forces were able to claim the upper courtyard of the citadel and the Obsidian Oathstone.^[14][15]

In the aftermath, the two heirs of Neltharion began to compete for who would become the next aspect; supported by their respective factions.^[16]

At an unknown point in time Weaponmaster Vordak had joined the Blacktalons, only to later betray them (stealing many of the obsidian citadel weapons in the process) and joined the Worldbreakers.^[17]
