The Elder Council (or the Council of Elders) is the ruling council of the Earthen Ring. Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff holds the governing Council of Elders.[1]
Following the Third War, the Earthen Ring had pure intentions towards the Forsaken and their entrance into the Horde, but there were some who wondered about the motivations of those whispering about it in the ears of the Elder Council.[2]
At the time of the Cataclysm, while Azeroth was in a chaotic state, the elements refused to answer the calls of the shaman, until the tauren Shotoa advocated for a more commanding role with the elements and to force them to obey. He later managed to convince many of the Earthen Ring shaman, including some members of the Elder Council, to abandon their traditional methods. However, Muln Earthfury revealed the betrayal of Shotoa, who was in reality a fire elemental sent by Ragnaros to destroy the organization, and managed to kill him with the help of the elements.[3]
After the death of Deathwing, Muln stepped down from his position as the leader of the Earthen Ring and Thrall became its new leader.[4] During the third invasion of the Burning Legion, Thrall also stepped down and was replaced by The Farseer.[5]
