  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal movie.

I love the subtitles on this movie because it was clearly done by an English (as in from England) speaker based on the phrasing and slang used. Besides that, this movie is wonderful and you see two Spanish language stars deliver a great performance.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Of the two half-brothers, choose the one with initials GGB.

I've seen it several times before and even bought the DVD with bonus material (which I'd like to get on Firestick!). A laugh-out-loud comedy with a serious message. It was the first film I saw with Diego Luna. He was portrayed as unattractive, and it took viewing several more of his movies to discover otherwise. I would see Gael Garcia Bernal in anything. He is always gorgeous, intelligent, and has a flair for the comic as well.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars If you love Futbol.

If you love Futbol..this movie is for you. Very funny take on the futbol (soccer) world and two examples of what happens to many professional players. Gael and Diego are hilarious and play their characters gracefully.
One of my favorite Mexican films. Light up a fatty if you're old school like me or dab it like these youngsters and enjoy this movie!

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars English subtitles!

Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2016

I helps to like the actors, of course. We do, but the movie stands on its own. What's particularly exciting about this version is that it has English subtitles for us Gringos who are trying, but acquiring a second language later in life is difficult. At least for me! Gael, especially, is always a treat to see on the screen.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great film, better if you speak Spanish

Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2010

If you enjoy Garcia Bernal's and Luna's ensemble acting and Cuaron's films, you'll enjoy this movie. I am a big fan of Y Tu Mama Tambien, and while this movie didn't quite reach that level of awesomeness for me, it did deliver. Garcia Bernal and Luna do great character acting, and the interaction between the Mexican brothers and their Argentine manager is funny and spot-on. However, the humor of this interaction is better understood if you speak Spanish and have some knowledge of regional slang and idioms. I also enjoyed the way the movie is filmed: the shots of Mexican life are really beautiful and respectiful, yet playful.

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Commedia Messicana

Reviewed in Italy on May 21, 2014

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Difícil de conseguir

Película muy divertida que no ha sido editada en España. Yo la vi en su día porque me la descargu'r de internet y la estuve buscando sin éxito hasta que la vi en Amazon.
Buen precio y buena compra. La única pena es que el blu ray estaba agotado.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars I hate football but loved this film

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 21, 2010

Admittedly, I only went to see this film because I fancy Gabriel Garcia Bernal, but I loved it. Great to see him paired back with the other bloke out of Y Tu Mama Tambien (can't remember his name, was also in Dirty Dancing II: Havana Nights, but don't ask me why I know that). I am a big fan of Spanish films. Very funny, realistic picture of the relationship between two brothers and how their harmartias impact on their dreams coming true. Worth it for the rendition of 'I want you to want me' alone, highly recommeded.
