Yo La Tengo will release the follow-up to 2000’s “And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out” April 8 via Matador. In contrast to last year’s moody instrumental set “The Sounds of the Sounds of the Science,” the new set, dubbed “Summer Sun” is being touted by the label as the band’s “most ambitious album to date.” It was recorded in Nashville with longtime producer Roger Moutenot.
“Exploring the sunny landscapes of summer, in every imaginable mode of music,” is how the As previously reported, Yo La Tengo will also play June 21 in Los Angeles as part of the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival, to be curated by “The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening.
“And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out” debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and has sold 114,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
