Maluma and Madonna turned up the heat at the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday (May 1), performing their steamy new Spanglish collab "Medellín" for the first time ever.
Maluma and Madonna brought the Billboard Music Awards straight to Colombia on Wednesday (May 1), performing their steamy new collaboration “Medellín” for the first time ever.
“One, two, cha-cha-cha,” Madonna whispered into the mic from offstage. With that, she began the performance solo — sort of. Donning a bedazzled eye patch and pirate-like getup, she was soon surrounded by a dizzying array of dancing Madonna holograms, each sporting a different outfit.
Meanwhile, Maluma cha-cha’d his way over to join her in a silky black button-down, dancing with the singer — and her holograms — through an elaborate stage setup that transformed from a forest to a rowdy patio restaurant.

Their fiery duet marks the Colombian heartthrob’s BBMAs stage debut and a triumphant return for the pop icon, who last graced the awards show in 2016 to tribute Prince.
The Spanglish banger about a woozy trip to Colombia comes off Madonna’s upcoming album Madame X, due June 14 and inspired by her time living in Lisbon, Portugal. Its wedding-themed music video has already garnered more than 14 million views on YouTube.
And it’s not the last you’ll hear from this duo. They’ll release another collaboration, “Soltera,” on Maluma’s own forthcoming 11:11 LP, due May 17.
The Billboard Music Awards are airing live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, with performances from Taylor Swift, Jonas Brothers and more.
