"This edition was refused by the London publishers and printed at Leyden, under the superintendence of Dr. P. Hotton, to whom it is dedicated, for the Waasbergs of Amsterdam. The name of the author's usual London printers was put on the title-page by the Waasbergs in defiance of Ray's wish"--BM (Nat. hist.), v. 4, p. 1653.
