Nine years ago, Mel Gibson managed to slip past many personal problems and publicity nightmares to make “Hacksaw Ridge,” earning award season attention for his work on the World War II feature. He didn’t capitalize on the success of the film, with “Flight Risk” his first helming assignment since the release of “Hacksaw Ridge,” returning behind the camera to make a B-movie that almost entirely takes place inside a small plane.
