Marvel is one of the biggest comic book publishers in the world. It's only natural that Marvel has created many memorable characters and superhero teams over the years. Not all of them achieved the same level of popularity, though. Some became downright iconic while others only appeared in the comics, and are mostly over by now.

To judge which Marvel superhero team is the best is no easy task. Any fan can like a different team. However, taking their general significance into consideration, some Marvel teams are simply more important than others. Whether it's because of their age, the things they've done, or the superheroes who are members of the team.

10 Eternals Are Too Easily Forgotten To Hold A Place In The Fandom's Heart

Eternals

The main problem with Eternals is that not that many people know them - at least when compared to other teams. Eternals first appeared in the comics in 1976 and they present a different side of Marvel comics. The team has extraordinary powers and its members are long-lived, close to immortal.

They're invested in Earth and do their best to protect people. With their upcoming MCU film, starring Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden, the Eternals could finally get the attention they deserve, considering their amazing powers.

9 X-Force's Violent Nature Makes Them A Thrill To Read About

X-Force

Just like many superhero teams, X-Force had multiple forms and versions in the comics. And another one on the big screen when Deadpool decided to form his own superhero team in his movie. X-Force means serious business, and they prefer a more direct, often violent approach than their counterparts, the X-Men.

The fact that Cable led them speaks for itself. The X-Force's adventures maintain high speed and are a thrill to read, even though they still stand in other teams' shadows.

8 It's Fascinating To Watch The Inhumans Butt Heads With Humans

Marvel Comics' Inhumans - Triton, Gorgon, Karnak, Black Bolt, Medusa, and Crystal

What connects Inhumans and Eternals is that they're both close to humanity, but not really a part of it. Inhumans live on the Moon, and even though they often interact with Earth and its people, they don't always get along. That doesn't change the fact they're good guys, for the most part, and have impressive powers.

Some of their more prominent members include their ruler Black Bolt, Medusa, her sister Crystal, or Crystal's transporting dog Lockjaw (who also joined the Pet Avengers in the comics).

7 Watching The Runaways Battle Their Own Parents Is A Unique Experience

Marvel Runaways

Runaways aren't as well-known as other superhero teams. Possibly because they haven't been in the comics as long. Their first appearance dates back to 2003. They became more popular thanks to the TV series of the same name.

Young heroes from their team, and unlike other superheroes, Runaways have to take on their evil parents. That brought new plots into their stories. They're also sympathetic to the younger audience, more relatable, and their adventures are full of humor.

6 The Defenders's Down To Earth Nature Makes Them Refreshing

Their shared TV show wasn't such a hit, but their solo series were more popular. That said, Defenders make a good team, despite the difference in their respective characters. What makes them refreshing and intriguing in comparison to other superhero teams is that they're more down to Earth.

Even though they all have special powers, they deal with things and problems that other superhero teams wouldn't pay attention to.

5 Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Are Proof That People Don't Need Powers To Make A Difference

Agents of SHIELD comics

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are the ultimate proof that people don't necessarily need special powers to be able to protect the world. They're most prominent thanks to their long-running TV show. However, they also appeared in the comics.

Funnily enough, the fan-favorite Phil Coulson first appeared in the MCU before crossing over to the comics even though it's usually the other way around. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. use a lot of interesting technological gadgets, are smart and well-trained so it's fun to watch/read their adventures.

4 Guardians Of The Galaxy Have The Best Banter

Guardians of the Galaxy One will fall

A few years back, Guardians of the Galaxy would have ranked lower on this list. Nowadays, they're much more well-known thanks to their attention-drawing presence in the MCU. The original team was much different from the current one that includes fan-favorites, such as Star-Lord, Groot, or Rocket.

Each of the members is different, and sometimes they don't get along much, which makes their mutual banter and adventures even more exciting. Guardians of the Galaxy are a special delight for all who like space adventures, as they're sometimes called 'Avengers in space'.

3 The Fantastic Four Helped Make Marvel A Success

Fantastic Four Road Trip

Nowadays, Fantastic Four doesn't draw as much attention to it as it once did. However, if it wasn't for this team, it's hard to say whether Marvel would be as successful as it is. What makes this team different from any other on this list is that they're a family.

So even though they have disagreements sometimes - such as during the Civil War - they always find a way to each other in the end. Their films weren't as successful as other superhero movies but Fantastic Four could get another shot in the MCU.

2 The X-Men Are A Fixture In Pop Culture

X-Men

As one of the oldest Marvel superhero team, X-Men belong among its most popular teams. They managed to reflect the real world better than anyone else, especially the fact that people tend to fear and persecute those different from them. At the same time, the team's stories contain a lot of humor. They manage to mix in drama and jokes well.

X-Men had a successful movie run as well, starting back in 2000 with the original X-Men movie. Now it looks like they might cross over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe which is something a lot of fans are looking forward to.

1 The Avengers Are The Most Iconic Team

Avengers Trinity

Avengers is by far the most iconic Marvel superhero team - one that presents a strong competition to the older DC's Justice League. There are multiple teams that use the name Avengers - such as West Coast Avengers, Young Avengers, Great Lakes Avengers, or Pet Avengers.

Thanks to this, their stories are never boring, they change as time progresses. Avengers are the Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and as such, their victory over other Marvel superhero team is indisputable.
