Services for Jeannette Husted Rumsfeld, 84, a retired school teacher and mother of former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Winnetka Congregational Church, 725 Pine St., Winnetka. Mrs. Rumsfeld, a 50-year resident of Winnetka, died at home Tuesday. She taught grammar school pupils for many years in the New Trier school district and served in the 1950s as assistant to the headmaster of North Shore Country Day School. She lived in the Chicago area except when she moved to California during World War II while her late husband, George, was stationed on an aircraft carrier. Her son, a former congressman, served as chief of the White House staff as well as in the Cabinet under President Gerald Ford. Survivors, besides her son, include a daughter, Joan Ramsay; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
