Cute and fun show that's appropriate for everyone!!
This show is cute and appropriate for all ages! Sabrina is a young witch with a big heart. Any kind of negative behavior is always followed by a concequence and Sabrina always tries to fix it. Along with the help and support of her family she always makes the right choice in the end! Although bland at times, the show has good and positive messages for kids four and up.
What's the Story?
Spun off from the popular '90s show starring Melissa Joan Hart, SABRINA: THE ANIMATED SERIES has much in common with its predecessor. Sabrina is still half mortal and half witch, and the friend- and school-related trials and tribulations she faces (while trying to conceal her secret powers) aren't all that different, either. What has changed is that Sabrina (voiced here by Melissa Joan's younger sister, Emily Hart) is now a cartoon -- and she's 12 instead of 16.
Is It Any Good?
Although Sabrina: The Animated Series lacks some of the wit and magic of the original series, it's still a charming, positive show with plots that tweens should be able to relate to. Perhaps because Sabrina is younger, this version serves up more silly, cartoon-inspired humor than the live-action Sabrina. Most episodes feature funny, entertaining storylines in which Sabrina uses her witch powers to help a situation along, only to discover that she's complicated a problem instead of solving it. Inevitably, she realizes that a good, honest heart is more valuable than magic. By following this formula, the show teaches kids lessons about loyalty, acceptance, forgiveness, and more.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the show's friendship issues. What does it mean to be a good friend? How are Sabrina and the other characters on the show good friends to one another? Have you ever had problems with your friends? How did you resolve the issue? What would you have done differently? For fun: What magic powers do you wish you had? How would you use them?
