Membership at EORTC
EORTC membership is a free membership which enables individual specialists within an institution to be part of a leading clinical cancer research organisation.
Through a large international network, connect with other specialists via group meetings*, conferences and training, to increase the survival and quality of life of cancer patients.
Membership is granted based on personal and institutional track records, as well as specific criteria around research quality.
*Please note: staff members working closely with the member on EORTC research are entitled to attend the group meetings without compulsory membership. At any time they can apply for individual membership.
All members have to agree on the EORTC Terms and Conditions.

Who can become a member
Active healthcare professionals and researchers:
Membership is open to healthcare professionals and researchers who are actively working in hospitals, universities or large cancer centres and are managing cancer patients and/or conducting related research activities. EORTC is a multidisciplinary organisation and our members are organised into groups of scientists and clinicians, each with a specific area of interest in cancer research.
They include:
- CLINICAL INVESTIGATORS
- IMAGING SPECIALISTS
- TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCHERS
- LABORATORY SCIENTISTS
- PATHOLOGISTS
- PSYCHOLOGISTS/QOL EXPERTS
- OTHER HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS.
How to become a member
Criteria for individual membership:
- Working in a qualified institution in the field of cancer research;
- Having obtained adequate qualifications;
- Active members* can be considered when working within the EORTC legal geographical area;
- Affiliate membership* is applied to individuals working outside the EORTC legal geographical area.
* Not applicable for members to the EORTC Quality Of life Group.
Criteria for your institution:
The location:
- A hospital (of any type public, private, community, and university).
- Or a non-commercial research lab that is linked to a hospital, university, or is independent.
- Or other institutions linked with oncology research.
- The facility can be only specialised in oncology (e.g., radiotherapy infrastructure, comprehensive cancer centre).
- Or having a fully dedicated oncology department with interdisciplinary proven functionality.
New institutions are subject for a central review at the application of the first membership.

Young and Early Career Investigators Opportunities
Early Career and Young Investigators programmes are available across various tumour groups at EORTC.
EORTC is dedicated to fostering the development of young doctors working in the EORTC network in clinical and translational cancer research. We aim to support and champion the next generation of researchers to sustain EORTC’s legacy in promoting cancer treatment that truly benefits patients.
Active – Early Career Investigators:
Members in the first 10 years of their professional career. Early Career Investigators (ECI).
Affiliate – Young Investigators:
Individuals in process of obtaining full qualification in the scientific research area. It is required that these individuals have a mentor within their institution who is already a member of at least one of the groups they wish to join.
