Trinity College is the second-oldest institution of higher education in Connecticut. The small liberal arts school embarks on 200 years of existence and celebrates its bicentennial by reflecting on its rich history, part of which includes Trinity’s Human Rights Program which is the first to be offered at a liberal arts college in the U.S. The Hartford-based university supports more than 900 courses and 40 majors, the most popular being Economics and Political Science. Trinity offers a robust study-away program, with

students placed in destinations such as Cape Town, Rome, and Shanghai. Throughout its centuries-long history, the university established a number of student traditions. Matriculation, for example, is the oldest practiced tradition for newcomers where first-year students sign “The Charter and Standing Rules” to start the school year. Residential life also fosters a unique culture, as more than 90% of undergraduates live on campus and students benefit from residing within Connecticut's state capital city.
