SX6871 : Dam at Venford Reservoir by Peter Holmes Dam at Venford Reservoir
SX6871 : Edge of Venford Reservoir by Sarah Smith Edge of Venford Reservoir

The soft greens of the conifers and shrubs and the pinks of the rhododendrons create a pleasant border to the waters of the reservoir.

SX6871 : Venford Brook by Guy Wareham Venford Brook
SX6871 : Track below Venford Reservoir by Derek Harper Track below Venford Reservoir

One theory I have come across is that this fine track, also seen in SX6871 : Track below Venford Reservoir and SX6871 : Track below Venford Reservoir, might disguise the water pipes heading towards Paignton from the reservoir.

SX6871 : Car park, Venford Reservoir by jeff collins Car park, Venford Reservoir
SX6871 : Sharp Tor and Rowbrook by Mike Crowe Sharp Tor and Rowbrook

Taken from the ridge near to Bench Tor, this view shows Sharp Tor on the left whilst the lone dwelling below it is Rowbrook. The tree is typical of the windswept Hawthorns to be found dotted around Dartmoor.

SX6871 : Dartmoor: Holne Moor by Nigel Cox Dartmoor: Holne Moor

Two hawthorn trees, two levels of berry cover. Apparently, I am told, the older and more distressed a tree becomes the more effort it puts into seeding itself elsewhere, so maybe the tree on the left falls into this category.

SX6871 : Devil's coach-horse beetle near Venford Brook by Derek Harper Devil's coach-horse beetle near Venford Brook

Ocypus olens on the steep and muddy path west of SX6871 : Stepping stones, Venford Brook. The white spots (glands that emit an unpleasant odour) confused me, but thanks to our beetle expert friend Mary for identifying it.

SX6871 : Venford Reservoir Dam by Tony Atkin Venford Reservoir Dam

The w shaped concrete serrations in the foreground mark the edge of the overflow channel.
