New cycleway 1

When the new Pen-y-Clip tunnel was built for the westbound carriageway of the A55 there was a great deal of dismay that no provision was made for crossing the 50mph road (the advisory speed limit has now been lifted), despite the availability of Telford's road as an alternative to the footpath of the original eastbound carriageway. Finally after years of lobbying and argument, a proper bridge for cycle and footpath was opened in July 2009. The stone building houses electrical control equipment for the tunnel and the road signals.
