151st Signal Battalion

  • ️John Pike

Through a cooperative effort between the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, the South Carolina National Guard, Microsoft Corporation, and Reidville Elementary, fifty Reidville families received home computers. The 151st Signal Battalion assisted by ghosting the computers and installing Windows 95 and Microsoft Works. Computers were given to the first fifty families who applied. Those selected were trained to use the software before taking the computer home.

The 151st Signal Battalion's distinctive unit insignia was approved on 21 June 1981. It shows a silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per bend Azure and Tenné, in bend a double ended signal flash throughout Argent, its lower portion charged with a signal flash Sable, in chief a branch of palmetto of the third. Attached below a scroll inscribed "UBIQUE AS FINEM" in black letters.

The unit's coat of arms shows Per bend Azure and Tenné, in bend a double ended signal flash throughout Argent, its lower portion charged with a signal flash Sable, in chief a branch of palmetto of the third.
