Along the 1.5 km of the Hamburg Art Mile between Ferdinandstor and Deichtorstraße are state museums, exhibition institutes and private galleries with over 30,000 m2 of exhibition space. Art and culture from antiquity to provocative contemporary art are presented here.
The Art Mile Hamburg consists of the following institutions:

The Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe at Hamburg's Central Station showcases 4,000 years of design history, including ceramics, photography, interior design and the development of furniture, textiles and poster printing. The Kunsthaus Hamburg shows changing exhibitions of contemporary art, the focus of the diverse exhibition programme is on the promotion of projects, artists from Hamburg and northern Germany as well as exchange projects with internationally active exhibition venues.
