One of the best Austrian players for more than a decade. Had a long and rich international playing career. Was a very good stickhandler. As he lost his speed in later years he shifted to defense.
First emerged as a junior with Stockerau EV in 1927/28.
Captained the 1938 and 1947 World Championship teams. Had to represent Nazi Germany in 1939 after the Anschluss.
Worked as a merchant. Married three times in January 1940, in June 1956 and in December 1971.
Inducted into the German Hockey Hall of Fame.

Fit partie des meilleurs joueurs autrichiens pendant plus d'une décennie. Sa carrière internationale, bien que coupée par le deuxième conflit mondial, en est témoin. Très bon manieur de crosse, il perdit son patinage avec le temps et recula en défense.
Se révéla sur la glace en junior, dès ses 14 ans, avec le Stockerau EV en 1927-1928. Capitaine de la sélection autrichienne en 1938 et en 1947, c'est-à-dire avant et après l'Anschluss. En 1939, il fut inclus dans l'équipe d'Allemagne du Reich.
Il travaillait dans le commerce. Marié trois fois, en janvier 1940, en juin 1956 puis en décembre 1971.
Introduit au Hall of Fame du hockey allemand.
