Wendell Pierce, of The Wire and Treme fame, had his home destroyed by the flooding in Baton Rouge, 11 years after his childhood home was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.

The 52-year-old Louisiana native revealed the news Sunday on Twitter, saying the response to his loss reminded him of “the generosity given to my family during Katrina.” The actor’s parents’ home was damaged when Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005.

My neighbors & I have flooded in Baton Rouge. I am reminded of the generosity given to my family during Katrina. Now we will care for you

Pierce, whose current credits also include HBO’s Confirmation and USA’s Suits, later tweeted phone numbers for the American Red Cross and Baton Rouge Food Bank.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do,” he told TMZ in a video posted Monday. “I just lost everything.” A noticeably shaken Pierce called the destruction “a private pain” in the video.

Pierce’s spokesman did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

Perhaps in a bid to lift his spirits, the actor also took time on Twitter to reply to a tweet made by Leslie Jones on Sunday, when the Saturday Night Live comedian and NBC Olympics commentator put out a call for a “boyfriend named Wendell or Clarence.”

Hey @Lesdoggg, my name is Wendell, and I played Clarence Thomas. What you trying to say, boo? I need to catch a plane down to Rio?!

Her reply?

@WendellPierce hell yeah

Pierce is known for his television roles as Detective William “Bunk” Moreland on The Wire and Antoine Batiste on Treme
