Planetes - Internet Movie Firearms Database - Guns in Movies, TV and Video Games
The following weapons were used in the anime series Planetes:
Pistols
FN Five-seveN
During their attack on the Werner von Braun, the Space Defence Front (SDF) terrorists carry pistols based on an FN Five-seveN fitted with a torch and laser.
Claire floating along a corridor with her pistol at the ready as the SDF boards the Werner von Braun.
Hakim discovers his pistol is empty. It vents some sort of gas out of the slide suggesting that these weapons use a different operating mechanism than current day firearms.
A closeup of the side of the pistol showing the controls, which match that of the FN Five-seveN apart from the manual safety switch is reversed.
Heckler & Koch Mark 23
The OSA police forces guarding the Werner von Braun are armed with a pistol that is based on the Heckler & Koch Mark 23 with a large extension under the frame containing a laser and flash light and a muzzle compensator. The weapon also appears to be capable of full automatic fire as well.

Submachine Guns
FN P90
The SDF terrorists use futuristic FN P90s with various modifications whilst commandeering the Wernher Von Braun.
The SDF terrorists entering the airlock of the Wernher Von Braun with their P90s in "Phase 23: Debris Cluster".
As the terrorist is shot it can be seen that these P90s are fitted with what appears to be either an adjustable stock or some sort of a recoil absorbing buffer in the stock.
Assault Rifles
AKS-74U
Several of the El Tanikans at the research facility in "Phase 11: Boundary Line" can be seen using rifles resembling AKS-74Us, with a solid stock fitted and missing the upper handguard.
M16A2
M16A2s can be seen being used by third world rebels and INTO forces alike in various episodes.

INTO soldiers in "Phase 23: Debris Cluster" guard the destroyed El Tanikan research facility. The rifles have M16 length barrels, but feature a skeltonised stock similar to an M4 retractable stock.
Sniper Rifles
