John Hicklenton was a British comic artist, specialized in the horror genre. He was an artist with 2000 AD magazine since 1986, where he started out working with Neil Gaiman and Grant Morrison on 'Tharg's Future Shocks' stories. He also did stories in the series 'Nemesis the Warlock' (1987-89) and 'Third World War' (1989+90) with Pat Mills, but he has mainly drawn 'Judge Dredd' stories for Judge Dredd Megazine between 1991 and 2007. He has additionally worked with Jim Alexander on 'Pandora' (1994-95). Hicklenton and Mills also cooperated on the mini-series 'ZombieWorld' for Dark Horse in 1999.

Hicklenton was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2000. He continued to draw however, working on projects like 'Sand' for Renegade Arts Entertainment. He made an award-winning documentary called 'Here's Johnny' about his illness, in which he documents his battle against the disease. John Hicklenton chose to end his life at the Dignitas clinic in Switzerland in March 2010.
