WINNERS—LensCulture Summer Open 2022

Announcing 20 New Award Winning Photographers!
LensCulture Awards always attract a broad spectrum of creativity from photographers all over the world, and with our inaugural Summer Open Awards we were delighted to discover an abundance of amazing new work from photographers who are using the language of photography with some startling fresh perspectives.
For this award, we really opened the doors to photography in all its glory — all genres, all topics, all techniques. The “open” nature of this call for entries resulted in some quite diverse subject matter and artistic approaches — including some excellent traditional large format work, bold political statements, meditations on human existence on this planet and beyond, psychological explorations, mash-ups of fashion and religion, and some mind-blowing collaborations of real-world photographers with Artificial Intelligence.
We encourage you to spend some time with each of these 20 remarkable photography projects. Enjoy!
“My overall impression of the Summer Open is that the quality was high across the different genres, subjects and artistic expressions. Many works were playful, creative and tried to push the boundaries of image making. But the work that made the biggest impression on me was still the intimate portraits of life, human relationships and mortality.”
