  • On March 15, 224 students in grades 4-6 competed in the Glendale Unified Annual Math Field Day at Mark Keppel Elementary. The students showcased their skills in problem-solving and conceptual understanding. Winners were honored at an award ceremony at Hoover High School, and the top 12 students will represent GUSD at the Los Angeles County Math Field Day on April 26. Congratulations to all participants!

  • Back from an unforgettable trip to the STN Convention in Tampa! 🌟 Our Clark Magnet students competed in Division 1 for the first time and brought home 1st place in Music Video & 2nd place in Crazy 8’s Short Documentary! 🎬🏆 Huge accomplishment competing against 40+ teams & 3500+ students!

  • Classrooms across GUSD celebrated Read Across America Day! Our students had a blast celebrating by reading books that inspire them to dream big and explore diverse cultures through the eyes of others. We thank our incredible educators, librarians, families, and all those who play an instrumental role in fostering our students' love for reading and learning!

  • Hoover students in the AP Italian program showcased their podcast projects to the Department of Italian at UCLA. Over seven months, students researched, scripted, and interviewed prominent Italians across various industries, all while working entirely in Italian. Great job to all of our student participants!

  • The One Glendale After School Youth Sports Program wrapped up its basketball season with some exciting final games! Marshall pulled off a hard-fought win in the consolation match, while Edison took home the championship title with a big victory over Jefferson. Families gathered at Hoover High School to cheer on the teams and enjoy entertainment from the school’s band, cheerleaders, and choir—plus some great food and community resources. It was a fun and memorable night celebrating teamwork, growth, and sportsmanship! One Glendale is an award-winning partnership between GUSD and Glendale Community Services and Parks. The program provides after-school organized sports to students at eight GUSD elementary schools, helping to prevent childhood obesity, build self-esteem, teach leadership skills, and address classroom discipline.

  • This week, our nutrition services department, in collaboration with CalFresh launched Rise and Energize! Our cafeterias served delicious breakfast items for our students to try and recreate at home!

  • Our spring student voice panel was a huge success! Our students spoke on topics that matter to them most such as health & safety, student engagement & campus culture, and college & career success! Great job to all of our student leaders and thank you for taking the time out of your day to be with us!

  • Big news! 🎉 Jewel City is a 2025 Model Community Day School! 🏆 This honor from the CA Dept. of Ed recognizes our commitment to student success through diverse education, mental health support, and resources.
