Julia Domna played an important role as center of circle of Roman and Greek philosophers and sophists, including Philostratus, whom she ordered to write the Life of Apollonius.
After her death and the brief reign of Macrinus, her family fortune was restored by Julia Domna's sister Julia Maesa, who put het grandson Heliogabalus on the throne.
