One of those rare instances where the developer exceeded expectations and over delivered.
Halo 3 transcends video games. It is a global entertainment experience. Just as "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" and "Spiderman 3" brought to a close two of the most lucrative and epic film trilogies of all time, Halo 3 brings to a close perhaps the most complete, engaging and downright fun video game trilogy of all time. There is absolutely no way any Halo fan will be disappointed by this game.
Quite literal perfection, the best game ever made by far, perfect story, perfect gameplay, perfect characters, perfect setting, perfect game
Completed in 2025. Masterpiece. From start to finish. Gameplay-wise, it still holds up today. Remastered in The Master Chief Collection. Thanks for this great game.
The game is definitely far superior to its predecessor and is just about on-par with the original, maybe even more so since it feels more complete.
This last installment for Master Chief in the Halo trilogy isn't perfect, but it comes pretty close.
What it comes down to is that Halo 3 is still a great playing first-person shooter that manages to get just about everything right.
There's no denying how awesome the replay and Forge features are – but they're not the core of the game. Don't get me wrong, the single player campaign is very strong, the action is tight, and the AI is F.E.A.R.-killing. But for every positive, there was an area of the game that left me wanting more – the backtracking, the overly cheesy storyline, the underwhelming visuals. And multiplayer feels too much like a HD-version of Halo 2 with a few gadgets you can toss around.
The ads promise an epic tale of tragedy, sacrifice, and heroism that Halo 3 really had no hope in hell of ever delivering. More troubling, however, is the fact that after playing the game, I can suggest with some certainty that they promised a game that Bungie didn't even bother trying to produce.
Undoubtedly the best game in the franchise. It has good and memorable levels, great multiplayer, better gameplay/vehicles. I've heard the story isn't as good but I don't care for stories in games. I don't have friends.
It would be fascinating to know why other reviewers rate this title so highly, as the Single-Player is one of the worst in existence, the characters are uninteresting and easily forgettable and the load-time durations are simply a war crime. Halo 3's soundtrack, multiplayer and distinctive visual style prevent this title from simply being a polished turd. Multiplayer (including Forge Mode) is the only plausible reason to purchase this game for entertainment value because it earns its own merit and then some. The maps are varied and offer plenty of strategy and the use of vehicles are immensely entertaining. Graphics 6/10 Although distinct in visual style, some of the level design does little to highlight it. Gameplay 6/10 Single player is atrocious, boring and forgettable but multiplayer is in a league of its own. Features 6/10 Removing the vacuous single player from the equation, Multiplayer has a gargantuan lasting appeal. Overall: 4/10 Multiplayer retains the same high standards of previous entries but the single player is simply an offence in gaming.
Halo **** the worst Halo game in ****'s extremely dull and boring. Halo 2 in my opinion is still the Halo game that defines the series, if you want the best Halo experience--Halo 2 will offer it. Halo 3 downgrades almost everything which made the previous Halo games so good. The combat is nothing new, though the duel-wielding has been taken away with a lot of weapons, which does balance things out for the multiplayer, though causes the single player to be much more slower than it needs to be. This brings up the general problem that the game is way too short. It can be beaten in a few hours and offers no real replay value due to the linearity and simplicity of it all. What were Bungie thinking? The X-BOX 360 was a next generation system, yet they make a game worse than what was run on the previous X-BOX? Multiplayer online seems to be ruining the single player experience...developers aren't bothered making good single player anymore due to the high demand for multiplayer, and it's a real shame considering that the first-person-shooter genre started off focusing heavily on single player. Unless you want to see what happens story-wise, there is no reason to play Halo 3.
Summary Halo 3 is the third game in the Halo Trilogy and provides the thrilling conclusion to the events begun in "Halo: Combat Evolved." Halo 3 picks up where "Halo 2" left off. The Master Chief is returning to Earth to finish the fight. The Covenant occupation of Earth has uncovered a massive and ancient object beneath the African sands - an o...
