Funded German and Film Taster Day, 19 September 2024 | Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics
All school groups and pupils are invited to attend a taster day on 19 September 2024, co-hosted by the Goethe Institute and the German Section at the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics, University of Cambridge.

The Taster Day is aimed at pupils in Years 7-11 who are studying German. It includes an introduction to and screening of the film Cleo (2019, with English subtitles) at the Arts Picturehouse Cinema in Cambridge; a free lunch at Trinity Hall; and a language workshop based on the film.
The event is free to attend. A proportion of travel costs will be covered for all attendees thanks to support from the DAAD Cambridge Hub and the Schröder Fund at the University of Cambridge.

10:00 - Welcome and introduction to film at the Arts Picturehouse with Dr Leila Mukihda
10:30 - Screening of Cleo (dir. Erik Schmitt, 2019) with snacks and drinks provided
12:30 - Lunch at Trinity Hall (free of charge)
13:30 - Walking tour of Trinity Hall
14:00 - Creative translation workshop based on Cleo with Dr Matt Hines
15:30 - End of event
NB: Individual pupils and school groups are welcome to attend. Pupils under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
