Borden Chemical
COMPANY Founded 1857 by Gail Borden as the New York Condensed Milk Company. In 1929 it acquired the Casein Company of America, and in 1958 the chemical portions of the company were renamed Borden Chemical. The parent company, Borden, Inc. was acquired by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts in 1995, and many of its businesses were sold off. Borden, Inc. was merged into Borden Chemical in 2001 and the latter adopted as the name of the combined firm. Borden Chemical was acquired in 2004 by private equity firm Apollo Management and is now a part of Hexion Specialty Chemicals.
