Manhattan call girl and temptress Gloria Wandrous uses and disposes of men quickly until she comes to the unhappily married Weston Liggett. Won Oscars for Best Actress and Best Cinematography. Based on the story of Starr Faithfull, found dead at Long Beach in 1931. Elizabeth Taylor owed MGM one more film, and recent press surrounding her affair with Eddie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds' husband, made her the perfect studio choice for a bad girl role. Taylor hated it, though.
