The Party

The Party (4-Apr-1968)

Director: Blake Edwards

Writers: Blake Edwards; Frank Waldman; Tom Waldman

Keywords: Comedy, Hollywood

Indian movie extra Hrundi Bakshi bumbles himself into literally blowing up the set for the final scene of Son of Gunga Din; the producer asks that Bakshi's name be put on a blacklist. Instead, his name is appended to the guest list of an exclusive party at the producer's Hollywood residence, where the one man tour of destruction continues. Minimal dialogue, maximum slapstick.

This over the top comedy exposing the film industry of the late 1960's is a laugh a minute. Seller's subtle (and not so subtle) visual antics will keep you laughing and wondering why this movie wasn't as popular as the Pink Panther franchise. His portrayal of an actor from India is spot on. Can you say "Burdie num muns"?
