REVIEWS

Review by Paul Balanchuk (posted on 3-Aug-2007)

Seldom do we see films made about Ukrainians.. .That being said ,this film captures the imagination and thrills the viewer with the landscape and costumes of an era quite nearly never thought about in north america. It is a facinating story of family, love, war and betrayal. Taking the viewer on a thrill ride missing in most of todays films about Ukrainian folk heros on horseback! I saw this as a child and being Ukrainian it has always stuck in my mind as really the only popular film on the subject... because I think it was .Tony Curtis... Yul Brenner! Definatly worth a long overdue sequel!

I saw the movie when I was eight years old, nearly 46 years ago. I have often thought about the movie and delightly remember it - the boldness of color, action and drama. I recall the sound and think of how much I enjoyed it. This movie definitely rates as a collector's item!
