The Cheap Detective
The Cheap Detective (23-Jun-1978)
Director: Robert Moore
Writer: Neil Simon
Keywords: Mystery, Comedy, Nazis
Private detective Lou Peckinpaugh's partner is murdered, and the police think him responsible. Quite understandable, as Peckinpaugh was having an affair with the wife. Set in Nazi-occupied San Francisco. Send-up of Humphrey Bogart films most notably Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon (1941), extending Peter Falk's character from Neil Simon's earlier Murder by Death (1976).
