Review by Luis Vega (posted on 21-Oct-2008)
This is a powerful, moving, clean story that forces one to look at the history of our evolving nation, and a man who was determined to pull his family through. This is a tear jerker that tempts one to judge the actions of a determined father based on standards and norms of our current culture; however, when one is reminded of the atrocities that were part of the birth pains of this nation, it is clear that one man's love was loudly proclaimed through actions that were rigid and overwhelming, but necessary due to the ugliness of racism. This movie is recommended to all Americans, not to shame any peoples, but to constantly remind us where we were and why we cannot go back. This movie is awesome. I saw it twice and will be showing it at my church the first chance I get. Excellent acting, excellent story line, excellent production.
