Created as an attempt by actor-turned-filmmaker Alex Winter to examine the controversy surrounding peer-to-peer file sharing and Napster in particular from both sides of the contentious discussion and debate, Downloaded features interviews with various music industry figures in addition to software developers and executives from the Recording Industry Association of America to tell a true-life tale of how the simple concept of "free music" divided a world and forever changed the face of the industry it impacted.
