Mean Streets
Mean Streets (2-Oct-1973)
Director: Martin Scorsese
Writers: Mardik Martin; Martin Scorsese
Producer: Jonathan T. Taplin
Harvey Keitel is Charlie Cappa, small time mobster in Little Italy whose buddy, Robert DeNiro as Johnny Boy, is in debt to the mob but refuses to contend with the seriousness of his predicament. Gritty urban realism and good characters wrap this relatively weak plot. Early and very personal effort by Scorsese. Entered 1997 into the National Film Registry.
