The Gutshalls and the Feathers feud over possession of a meadow in backwoods Tennessee. The title refers to the signature on a letter which triggers an escalation of violence. Brutal hillbilly drama is surprisingly well-made and can be quite compelling. Film deserves more than its present oblivion.
