As she approaches her twentieth wedding anniversary, a bored housewife indulges alcohol, pills, and profligate spending; after her husband restricts her cash flow she runs off to the Bahamas to see a friend from college, played by Shirley Jones. Mostly good performances in this dated melodrama; tends to drag at points. Jean Simmons received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, and "What Are You Doing for the Rest of Your Life?" a nomination for Best Song.
