ABSTRACT
Once-proud Coast Guard rescue swimmer Ben Randall's life falls to pieces after his crew is killed in a mission gone horribly awry and his depressed wife abandons him, prompting his commander to reassign him to a Louisiana training facility for new recruits. An immensely talented recruit burdened by cockiness over his status as an ex-high school swim champion and troubled past named Jake Fischer catches Ben's attention; through tough love and a measure of discipline, Ben strives to instill in Jake the tact and humility required for him to shine as a rescue swimmer.
