REVIEWS
Review by Marijune H. Snyder (posted on 24-Jun-2007)
SWEETHEARTS is one of the best movies next to Maytime that Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy ever made. They are a married couple on stage, singers, and do lovely music, also Jeanette has a flair for dancing very well with Ray Bolger. The story is about their hard work, coming home to family, also the family of their productions on the stage, trying to keep them going on and on. Their lives are not their own, they are badgered with special programs to sing and exploit the stage show they are in. Hollywood is after them, and all Hell breaks loose. The only way to get them to Hollywood is to trick them. The movie is worth the time and even the buying of the DVD of this wonderful cast. There is definitely a charismatic tie between these two. I still believe they were in love when this was made. They seem to feel so at home together in this movie, as it were their real life. Dirty work afoot with the writer fixing a break up so they will not go to Hollywood as a team. They soon come together and again after reading some gossip and return to the stage. Their music is magnificent and they seem to have such fun together in this move. See it! You will never be sorry!
