HONOR

Just for fun, the Alfalfa Club leadership nominates a presidential candidate every year (not just election years). The candidate is required to deliver an acceptance speech at the event.

The Stassen Society honors Harold E. Stassen and all the Club's other unusccessful candidates for President of the United States on the Alfalfa Party ticket. [...] Gov. Stassen (1907-2001) ran unsuccessfully for President of the United States nine times between 1944 and 1992, and a tenth time on the Alfalfa Party ticket. The motto "Veni, vidi, defici" loosely translates as "I came, I saw, I lost."
