Gordon Scott worked as a fireman, a cowboy, a tractor salesman, and a lifeguard before being 'discovered' by a Hollywood talent scout. The title role in Tarzan's Hidden Jungle was his first job as an actor, and he promptly married his Jane, Vera Miles. In addition to his six turns as Tarzan, he starred in numerous European action movies, most memorably fighting zombies in Maciste contro il vampiro (Goliath and the Vampires).
