A new theater, the Lepercq Space, named in honor of Paul A. Lepercq, board chairman of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, was dedicated Thursday. Attending the ceremonies were Richard Clurman, the city's Administrator of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs; Peter Brook, a British director, and Harvey Lichtenstein, the academy's executive director.

The theater; which can seat 500 persons, is in an area formerly designed as a ballroom on the academy's second floor, During the last 13 months, Mr. Lepercq has donated about $200,000 for the academy's operating expenses, programing and capital improvements.

Mr. Brook, who spoke briefly at the ceremonies, envisioned the Lepercq Space not only as a theater but also as vitally needed “meeting place for businessmen and public servants as well as for members of the art world.”
