If you missed my earlier post on the Register’s new OC Business non blog, Irvine’s Linksys isn’t losing its moniker anytime soon.
Lost in the post: the real estate swapping between three of OC’s big tech companies. I thought I’d expand on what’s happening:
Earlier this year, Broadcom Corp. vacated its headquarters on Alton Parkway in Irvine, for a more spacious — and guarded — campus near UC Irvine. The area is known as UCI’s University Research Park, a 185-acre tract.
Now, Blizzard Entertainment of the mighty World-of-Warcraft game fame, is moving from its Research Park building to Broadcom’s old home.
And Linksys, which is already in three buildings (including one temporary one) at the Research Park, will add Blizzard’s soon-to-be-vacated building to its collection of offices.
Linksys employs 950 people worldwide and a little over 600 people in U.S.
