Olympedia – Željko Jerkov

Željko Jerkov played on the Yugoslav national team between the mid-1970s and the early 1980s, winning a silver medal at the 1976 Montréal Olympics, a World Championship in 1978, and an Olympic gold medal at Moskva in 1980. At the club level Jerkov played for many years with Jugoplastika Split, winning two Korac Cups (1976-77). He also played in Italy for Pesaro in the top-flight (1982-83) and Treviso in the Second League (1983-84).

After ending his playing days, Jerkov became an entrepreneur and entered politics, becoming the mayor of Split. In January 2008 he was elected president of the Hajduk Split basketball team.
