The feel-good Amelie is a lively, fanciful charmer, showcasing Audrey Tautou as its delightful heroine.

Rania Richardson AV Club Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s quirky rom-com AMÉLIE felt like a breath of fresh air when it was released two decades ago. It's just as relevant today, but for different reasons. Rated: 3.5/4 Feb 14, 2024 Full Review David Stratton At the Movies (Australia) With the talented Audrey Tautou in the leading role, Amelie is sheer delight, and will entrance everyone who sees it. Rated: 4.5/5 Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Amelie is a delicious pastry of a movie, a lighthearted fantasy in which a winsome heroine overcomes a sad childhood and grows up to bring cheer to the needful and joy to herself. You see it, and later when you think about it, you smile. Rated: 3.5/4 Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Ray Pride Newcity Snapshot of an idealized version of [Montmartre]... fate, joy, momentary despair and still more joy. It’s filled with lists of likes and dislikes and Jeunet’s restless need to entertain makes Amélie a list in itself. Rated: 9/10 Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Germain Lussier io9.com Life is hard, but it can be quite beautiful too. And that's especially the case if you use some of it to watch Amélie. Apr 27, 2024 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy An enchanting, quirky comedy that, like its central character, marches to its own (off)beat. Rated: 3.5/4 Apr 23, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Lorita Music carries the whimsical nature of Amelies dream life. We watch her strategize ways to better the lives of unhappy people never realizing she also needs an intervention to bring fulfillment to herself. A French view of the world that cannot help but bring humor and irony to a delightful story of making things happen. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Joshua C This is my absolute favorite rom com of all time. It's great for all sexes and all ages. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review ME A classic that must be seen Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/24 Full Review Elizabeth B Whimsical yet deeply meaningful, beautifully shot, this film is a favorite—thank you for the revival! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/24 Full Review Joseph A One of my faves, glad to have seen it on the big screen for the first time! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/24 Full Review Audience Member I will say right away that this film has more artistic value than entertainment value. For a bit it felt like the film dragged on too long and it made me a little uninterested, however I understood some of its significance. The actress who played Amelie did a very good job and there were quite a few comedic moments in the movie as well. It was also good to see more vulnerable and deeper character moments, plus certain reveals that were interesting. It’s hard to believe that this director made one of the worst movies in the Alien franchise before he went on to make this movie (which used pretty captivating directing techniques)! Overall, not my typical kind of movie but it for sure wasn’t bad! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/25 Full Review Read all reviews

Synopsis "Amélie" is a fanciful comedy about a young woman who discretely orchestrates the lives of the people around her, creating a world exclusively of her own making. Shot in over 80 Parisian locations, acclaimed director Jean-Pierre Jeunet ("Delicatessen"; "The City of Lost Children") invokes his incomparable visionary style to capture the exquisite charm and mystery of modern-day Paris through the eyes of a beautiful ingenue.
