Blumhouse's Truth or Dare | Rotten Tomatoes

Truth or Dare's slick presentation isn't enough to make this mediocre horror outing much more frightening than an average round of the real-life game.
Wasted funds Can’t believe I wasted monry seeing this. Was a terrible movie! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/28/24 Full Review Michael B Entertaining and edge of your seat, and some good twists. Only 3 stars because approximately the last 20 minutes, especially the ending (though unpredictable), got too dumb and senseless. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/25 Full Review Ralph R Truth or Dare (2018) is one of those horror movies that keeps a decent pace but feels oddly familiar, almost like a mashup of different horror elements you've seen before. The setup is engaging enough, and the production is solid for a Blumhouse film, but there's nothing groundbreaking here. The tension is there, but the scares rely too much on predictable moments and overused horror tropes. It moves fast enough to keep things from getting boring, but at the same time, it doesn't leave much of a lasting impact. The acting isn't bad, and the cast does what they can with the material, but the film as a whole feels forgettable once it's over. It has a few moments that work, but the story doesn't do enough to stand out from similar supernatural horror films. If you're just looking for a casual, easy-to-watch horror flick with some creepy visuals and a decent pace, it might be worth a shot. Otherwise, it's not something you'd revisit or think about much after the credits roll. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/25 Full Review Ma. Catherine V As a kid i like this movie but now i don't really vibing it Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/25 Full Review Alex S As I was hoping this embarrassment of a train wreck to at least be memorable guilty pleasure for its preposterous structure, Truth or Dare is nothing but laughable matter that is horribly directed, no where near terrifying, a plot that leads its “premise” absolutely no where. It only makes itself a film to watch if one is dared take in its absurdity. Grading: F Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/25 Full Review Korra N Wildly dumb & laughably bad, the movie is basically a college kid horror soap opera. It can be fun as a so-bad-it's-good kind of film, though. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/15/25 Full Review Read all reviews

Synopsis Olivia, Lucas and a group of their college friends travel to Mexico for one last getaway before graduation. While there, a stranger convinces one of the students to play a seemingly harmless game of truth or dare with the others. Once the game starts, it awakens something evil -- a demon which forces the friends to share dark secrets and confront their deepest fears. The rules are simple but wicked -- tell the truth or die, do the dare or die, and if you stop playing, you die.
